We are so excited to finally launch our online shop! As you look around and pick out your first coffees, we want to be transparent with you about the geographical boundary at checkout.
Recently, the European Union rolled out the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (often referred to as the PPWR). At its heart, it’s a great law aimed at reducing waste, boosting recycling, and building a circular economy across Europe. We fully support keeping packaging minimal and sustainable, but as a small independent roastery launching our shop, complying with it across borders right out of the gate is simply not possible due to buerocratic and financial restrictions.
HERE IS A QUICK BREAKDOWN OF THE PPWR AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU:
What Is EU 2025/40?
In plain terms, the PPWR creates a unified set of packaging rules across all EU countries. It sets strict requirements on packaging weight, box volume, recyclability, and detailed compliance reporting for every single country where goods are delivered.
Why Direct EU-Wide Shipping Isn't Available Yet:
Under these rules, shipping a bag of coffee directly to a home address in another EU country (for instance, sending a parcel munich to France, Italy, or Austria) requires us to individually register with that specific country's waste management system, pay separate licensing fees, hire local legal representatives, and file ongoing recycling reports - even if we only ship a few bags there per year. That means that we need to make a signifcant amount of money per country to outweigh the cost, just to break even. In some countries, that's up to 1500€ of cost per year, not counting our time. For our small team, managing dozens of different legal systems from day one just isn't doable.
That’s why individual consumer orders on our webshop are available exclusively within Germany.
If you live outside of Germany, that means: tell your favourite multiroaster café about us (B2B is exempt!), and until then, support your local coffee roasters and cafés!
GOOD NEWS! WHOLESALE (B2B) IS FULLY ACTIVE ACROSS EUROPE!
If you run a café, bakery, hotel, office, or retail shop anywhere in the EU, you don't have to wait!
Commercial wholesale shipments operate under completely different rules. Business-to-business supply chains don't fall under the same individual cross-border consumer packaging licenses.
